SITE ENGINEER

SALARY: COMPETITIVE

LOCATION: TELFORD

Job role

The primary purpose of this role is site based and is to assist with the provision of accurate surveying, setting out, measurement and control of contract works. This includes, where appropriate, the supervision of resources and subcontractors on smaller schemes. The role extends to the implementation of Amco Rails quality control and quality assurance systems on site

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Fulfilling the Health and Safety responsibilities as defined within the Company Health and Safety Policy and ensuring that all site activities are carried out in a safe manner
  • Ensuring that all site activities comply with the Company and Site standards for Quality and Environmental Management
  • Ensuring the accuracy and correct interpretation of contract drawings, specifications and other information used in support of the delivery of site engineering
  • Responsibility for the management of all dimensional control on site
  • Ensuring that site engineering is carried out in a professional, systematic and accurate manner
  • Supervision of works including labour, plant and subcontractors
  • Keeping accurate records, including a diary, of all site activities
  • Reporting observations and issues to line managers in a timely and professional manner
  • Assisting the line managers with the resolution of engineering issues and queries
  • Taking off and ordering of materials
  • Monitoring and Control of wastage
  • Assisting in the production of Risk Assessments, Work Package Plans, Inspection and Test Plane and other documentation
  • Other tasks as may from time to time be deemed necessary and are authorised by line managers

Person specification

Candidates for this role should be effective team members and meet the following criteria:

  • Be HNC/HND/Degree qualified or hold compensating experience (Civil Engineering preferable)

  • Have similar experience within a contracting environment

  • Have similar experience within the Rail sector (not essential)

  • Have good communication, interpersonal and organisational/accuracy skills

  • Be IT literate in MS Office applications

Qualification required

  • NHC/ HND or Degree in Civil Engineering
